Candle Care

We like our candles bold, not badly behaved. A little attention keeps things burning beautifully instead of spiralling.

Before You Light It

Before lighting, trim the wick to about 6mm. This keeps the flame steady, reduces smoke, and prevents unnecessary drama. Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface that’s prepared to handle fire with respect.

The First Burn Matters

The first burn is non-negotiable. Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel, which usually takes around three hours. This sets the candle up for an even burn and helps prevent tunnelling. Treat it properly now and it will reward you later.

While It’s Burning

Keep each burn to a maximum of four hours. Longer doesn’t mean better, it just means hotter. Make sure the candle is away from drafts, flammable objects, pets, kids, and anything that could turn a mood into a liability. Never leave a lit candle unattended. We’re bold, not reckless.

When It’s Done

Once about 6mm of wax remains, stop lighting the candle. Place the jar in the freezer for a few hours and the remaining wax will lift out easily. From there, reuse the glass for whatever feels right or recycle it properly.

Just The (Scent) Tip

Scent works best when you let it unfold rather than force it. Candles don’t need to shout to be felt. In smaller spaces, a shorter burn will fill the room. In larger spaces, give the scent time to settle and move. For the cleanest throw, burn with doors and windows closed and let the room hold the atmosphere.

A Few Extra Truths

A gentle flicker is normal. A wild flame means the wick is too long or the candle is sitting in a draft. Soot is a sign to pause, trim, and reset.

Final Word

Fire’s cute until it’s not. Treat it with respect and pay attention while it’s lit. We made the candle. What happens next is on you.
